Job Title: Back-End Engineer

Location:

What we are looking for:

We are looking for curious and passionate backend engineers who can self-direct, architect, and deliver cutting-edge solutions to problems in the education and health space.

Requirements:

• Be comfortable working in a startup environment where moving fast and developing iteratively is standard.
• Experience working with MERN stacks. In particular, nodeJS.
• Strong systems thinking with a focus on high reliability and scalability
• Good disciplines on test-driven development (mocha, jest)
• Familiarity with AWS and MongoDB Atlas.
• Experience working with CPaaS providers (Twilio) and telcos to handle SMS and Voice at scale.
• Experience in Agile / Scrum Methodology
• Large-scale production experience or comfort with microservices (Kubernetes, Docker, or other container deployment architecture).
• Large-scale production experience or comfort with serverless-based architectures (e.g. OpenFaas, AWS Lambda, Serverless, etc.)
• Understanding, designing, and architecting modern, scalable, fault tolerant services and frameworks.
• Back end development focused on performance scalability and reliability cutting across on-premises and multi-cloud environments (AWS or DigitalOcean preferred)
• Strong communication and time-management skills. Eager and ready to work with a distributed team across all US time zones.

  Hard skills: Javascript, Kubernetes, NodeJS, React, MongoDB or other NoSQL

  Bonus:

  • Experience measuring and troubleshooting the performance of systems, as well as testing and automating deployment (CI/CD, Terraform)
  • Large-scale production experience or comfort with containerization & distributed cloud cloud compute architectures (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

  Location:

  • Remote position, with availability to meet in-person at the office twice a week.
  • Fully remote options available.
